You are Samuel and you are the owner of the “Curious Garage” – a small spacecraft workshop located in the middle of the Canyons on the far away planet. Despite being an isolated spot, it is one of not many such workshops in the area and frequent visitors who wish to have their spacecraft or rovers fixed. However, Samuel is waiting for one particular customer to come to his garage, a customer whose lifestyle and schedule he has been researching for a long time and expects him to come to his garage very soon. That customer is responsible for terrible crimes against his wife and now Samuel is going to take his revenge.

The experience is set entirely inside the “Curious Garage”. The player is given some time to explore Samuel’s personal possessions such as plans on how to take revenge and notes , photos, newspapers on what happened in the past – all these items serve a purpose of flashing out the back-story of nightmare that Samuel experienced and make player feel his sense of revenge. There are various miscellaneous items as well that are part of this distance planet world that provide some insight at what life is like there and what technologies they are using. There will also be a choice of weponary available to the player to accomplish Samuel’s revenge. Although you will be unable to go outside the garage there will be windows and security cameras outside that would provide sense of what the environment outside looks like.

Project

Brief

The goal is to have the project working in the first person on the HTC Vive with room-scale support and motion controllers. The engine is still being decided upon (either Unity or UE4) based on what works best visually and performance wise for the project.

The player will be able to move around environment either by teleportation or full locomotion in VR - both options will be provided.

Intended for adult audiences, who are interested in less action-packed interactive experiences. The audience is also limited by the ones who is in possession of a VR setup and/ or a capable PC.

All voice acting is intended to be alien speech only. The majority of the story will be told through environmental storytelling.

1) Player character - will be only arms, no fully rigged model required. However, there might be some photographs in the environment that provide insight into how Samuel looks.

2) Nemesis of the player - this will have to be fully rigged, animated character that would have some pathfinding in the environment. In addition, the possibility of damage simulations such as dismemberment will be explored.

3) Backstory character represented either through text or other mediums available in the garage. No rigging/ animation required.

4) Optionally some extra characters that come visit the garage if the times allow.

Setup of the experience:

The goal is to have the project to have a look and feel of the Jean Giraud Moebius art style. His rendering of the future provides a unique approach to science fiction and is currently underrepresented in 3D renderings. There are some people who work in this style such as Pascal  Blanche’s personal works (art director at Ubisoft) and a visually amazing upcoming project by Shedworks that captures this aesthetic perfectly.
